In the world of Caribbean destination weddings love is literally in the air with Extreme St Lucia Weddings.
Multiple award winning St Lucia photographer Kirk Elliott recently shot another of his signature “Love is in The Air St Lucia Weddings” and Sandy and Tony, the bride and groom, are over the moon with the results.
Elliott’s Extreme Wedding Photography takes newlyweds on a private helicopter tour right across Saint Lucia and down to Soufriere for pictures with the Pitons as their backdrop. The Pitons are St Lucia’s iconic twin peaks, nestled within the 2900 hectare Piton Management Area that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site."I must confess that I was a wee bit nervous sitting in the helicopter with the doors off and my dress blowing out of the open space where those doors should have been” said an excited Sandy, still flush from the adrenaline rush of her helicopter experience.
Elliott, together with the bride and her travel agent Trina Pauley of 4 Seasons Travel, planned the entire affair. Despite some rain induced challenges they are all extremely pleased with the results which gave Sandy some amazing wedding photos and stories to share with guests at her reception back in Iowa.“I emailed a number of photographers in St Lucia requesting information regarding an upcoming St Lucia destination wedding and Kirk stood head and shoulders above all others” explained Trina. “Within 10 minutes he had responded with a simple “Your wish is my command and I will call you tomorrow to discuss” continued Pauley.
Love is in The Air Weddings are just one aspect of the Kirk Elliott Photography offerings that are part of Elliott’s St Lucia StoryBook Wedding Photography. While other island destination wedding photographers offer their wedding images on CDs and flash drives Elliott provides brides with a total package encompassing album design and huge wall art up to 96 inches wide, printed onto media such as canvas, bamboo, acrylic and even metal. The prints are then shipped directly to addresses anywhere in the world. Elliott’s StoryBook Heirloom Wedding Albums are hand assembled in Italy by one of that country’s most renowned design studios.“I learnt about them during a workshop I attended at a time when I wanted to up my destination wedding photography” Elliott explained.
From her initial contact Sandy indicated that she didn’t want a resort wedding, opting instead for a simple affair at a quiet location that evoked the essence of Saint Lucia.
“…and for my St Lucia wedding reception I wanna go have dinner at a local hangout so that Tony and I can enjoy the real St Lucia” Sandy told us quite early in our discussions about her wedding.
Pigeon Island National Landmark, a Saint Lucia National Trust property, proved to be the perfect wedding venue, and with the wedding being on a Friday, Saint Lucia’s famous Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party turned out to be even more than Sandy had dreamed of.
“We got into Gros Islet after the wedding and I instantly knew that this was gonna be da bomb” commented Sandy.
Saint Lucia is so much more than sand, sun and sea, and today vacationers want to experience the true pulse of their destination. Soft adventure is the order of the day and this affords local tourism businesses such as Elliott’s the opportunity to introduce visitors to authentic immersive cultural experiences that will have them encouraging friends and family to come visit too. And as if to prove this point, Sandy has already told her brother that he simply has to get married in St Lucia, and Trina is already pointing other brides in the same direction too, which has Kirk wondering how to top Sandy and Tony’s helicopter wedding photography!
